Tanzania Mental Health Summit 2025

Delegates Program

🌍 Empowering Young People and Women to Lead the Mental Health Agenda in Tanzania

Mental health is a critical, yet often neglected, component of Tanzania's national development. As the burden of mental health disorders rises across Sub-Saharan Africa, youth and women remain disproportionately vulnerable due to persistent social, economic, and policy-related barriers.

That’s why WAYDS, under the banner of the Tanzania Mental Health Summit 2025, is proud to launch a three-year Delegates Program β€” an immersive experience designed to equip young changemakers (ages 18–35) with the tools, training, and platform needed to become national leaders in mental health advocacy.

🌟 Why Become a Delegate?

Selected delegates will embark on a transformative journey, where leadership, advocacy, and strategic thinking converge to ignite lasting impact. Delegates will:

  • Gain exclusive access to scientific and policy-focused training

  • Receive mentorship from top experts in mental health, policy, and social impact

  • Engage in panel discussions, workshops, and keynote sessions at the annual summit

  • Join a three-year national delegation network for long-term impact

πŸ” This is not just a summit – it's a movement.

πŸ’Ό What Delegates Receive

  • Free Lodging and Meals during the summit

  • Access to 6+ Keynote Presentations featuring research-backed strategies

  • Participation in 4+ Policy Panel Discussions

  • Involvement in 4+ Skill-Building Workshops

  • Long-term support through WAYDS Delegates Alumni Network

🎁 Delegates may also purchase optional branded summit kits (T-shirts, water bottles, diaries, etc.) at a subsidized rate to commemorate their experience.

πŸ” Focus Areas

WAYDS’ Delegates Program is built on three pillars of transformation:

1. Promotion of Mental Health Challenges’ Prevention

2. Capacity Building for Mental Health Advocacy

3. Organizational and Community Movement Empowerment

These core areas ensure delegates can lead advocacy efforts, influence policy, and implement impactful programs at both local and national levels.

🎯 Who Should Apply?

WAYDS is recruiting 500 committed youth and women from across Tanzania who are:

  • Aged 18 to 35

  • Tanzanian citizens and residents

  • Proficient in Swahili (English is a plus)

  • Actively involved in community or organizational movements

  • Passionate about promoting mental well-being and addressing societal challenges

🧠 Experience can be voluntary or professional but must show commitment to improving mental health in Tanzania.

πŸ” The Selection Process

This is a merit-based, competitive process that includes:

1. Online application review by two independent reviewers

2. Semi-final interviews (phone-based)

3. Final selection of 500 delegates (350 from nationwide, 150 from the summit host region)

πŸŽ“ Delegates will commit to three years of learning, community engagement, and impact.

  • Volunteer opportunities as regional liaisons or trainers

  • Networking and Learning Labs for ongoing development

  • Transformational Funds to support projects in their communities
