Environment/ Climate Change

Climate change is increasingly recognized as one of the greatest global challenges of our time, with far-reaching impacts on the environment, economy, and human health. In Tanzania, a country highly vulnerable to climate-related disasters such as floods, droughts, and cyclones, these environmental changes pose significant risks to the mental health and well-being of affected populations i.e., prolonged droughts in regions, including the Shinyanga region have led to crop failures, food insecurity, and water shortages, all of which contribute to increased stress and anxiety among farming communities.

In regards, the Tanzania mental Health Summit will therefore explore and promote addressing the psychological impact of climate change and integration of mental health services into disaster response and adaptation strategies to enhance the resilience of individuals and communities, enabling them to better cope with the challenges posed by a changing climate.
